About Me

My whole family are passionate about the outdoors in one way or another after growing up in that environment as children. I'm enthusiastic about all aspects of our sport and definitely passionate about helping people to develop and enjoy the sport in a safe and responsible way. I'm also always keen to improve on what I do as a coach and how I deliver my courses so I'll always ask for your feedback.

Here's a bit about me:

  • Over 21 years of experience, with over 17 of which I have been coaching at clubs and centres
  • A UKCC Level 3 Coach with Advanced Water Endorsement (White Water), Moderate Water Endorsement (Open Canoe), 5 Star Leader (White Water), 4 Star Leader (Open Canoe), Advanced WWSR Trained and 3 day First Aid Certificate
  • Enjoy both White Water Kayak, open canoe and decked C1 in both whitewater and freestyle environments
  • 8 seasons of leading and coaching in the French Alps
  • Previously¬†actively involved within the Yorkshire region, sitting on the Regional Coaching Committee as Treasurer.
  • Currently sit on the BCU Technical Group, advising the BCU on courses and awards
  • Own and manage Tittesworth Water Sports and Activity Centre, near Leek, Staffordshire (www.tittesworthwater.co.uk) and have an Adventurous Activities Licensing Service (AALS) licence to provide adventurous activities to under 18s without the supervision of parents. Click here for more details of our licence.

Venturing further afield when time allows, I love the more technical or bigger volume rivers of Europe but I'm just as much at home coaching the intro sessions in the UK on the club scene.

I've also been involved with many clubs over the years, from club coach to chairman, and still find the time to coach at my local club.
